How to use internet effectively
Introduction
A well connected computer network, in which the contents and information are posted in web and accessible to anyone in the world who are all connected to the network and the term is called internet. Internet was initially used in the name of ARPANET ( Advanced Research Project Agency) by the US defense to share information among their officials. Now the standard protocol used in internet is called TCP IP . The current version is V4 , syntax is 192.128.1.1 the combinations can be used . Static ip means a individual machine can be identified using a specific number . the dynamic ip is shared one , which ISP providers randomly allocate for every usage to a small group or slot of users .V6 is expected to follow this ip format as successor
Major use of internet
Internet should be seen in two perspective , one as end user and other as the broadcaster or webmaster. Let us take the former now , the end user can look for the following in the internet
1. Information on any topic
2. Discuss about any domain or technology
3. Do online transaction in financial services and banking
4. Book tickets and hotel for travel
5. Watch movies or listen to music
6. Buy/sell goods online
7. Register to a forum , community or club and get connected to like minded people
8. Gather in social network share emotions and information
9. Receive emails , a better communication medium of today
10. Access information any where any time
11. Save the information gather , store online and retrieve when needed
12. Find local information about shopping or services you look for
13. Learn about any topic or technology ,s ay health , automobiles, investments , economy,etc
The later is the one who is owner of a website , or in other terms who is holding an address to get visitors in internet
The most common usage comes in big list varieties ,
1. To hold presence online , a global presence live 24X7 all over the world .
2. To showcase or broadcast what am and what are all the products or services I offer ,
3. To serve to the existing customers in varieties of way s.
4. Next is to promote business online and attract new customers
5. Share knowledge mutually as a big group
6. Broadcast news and information
7. Integrate different locations of a business and reduce cost of operation
8. Communicate with customers and Potential inquiries
9. Gather people with for a specific cause
10. Knowledge repository to public
11. Search …a one word that rules the world today . Every search ends in internet now Using Effectively and Efficiently First be sure, what is the purpose of logging into internet before opening the browser, even if there is no specific intention and you use to pass time, create a useful goal and sit for it. Learn to search better , google is the ruler of internet search today , and google have certain syntax to for search , for e.g. [Link:www.wikipedia.org] will result all the linked sites , cache: www.howstuffworks.com will result all the cache pages . Never get deviated from the objective , for which you came online , try to be focused , completed the task for which you came online , then if you have extra time to spend , follow the ads which attract you online Lot of things can drive you to different directions , which are unwanted to you in internet . Be careful in that , just ask one , is there any result that you are going to get on clicking that Nothing is free in this world, internet may show everything as free, just click and download .But after download will ask you to renew in two use or pay after two days or else buy something else to use this . So make sure , you need it before downloading anything Make sure you save the information you collect from internet in a structured format , so that you can retrieve it “ quickly and easily “. Let it be a bookmark , or music file or important software , save in separate categorized folders and define your own folder structure to follow it up . Never make a online payment or banking transaction from a public machine , criminals are always smart enough to get latest hacking software to loot your passwords or pin .Use only If you have firewall or using your personal machine
You pay for every bite you use in internet ( in most of the countries) , so make sure you upload and download only things which are necessary . say for e.g., downloading a movie of 1 giga byte size may cost you $50 for both the website and internet usage .Buying the same CD may cost $ 20 , just buy in shop in such cases . Use cloud computing effectively, try to save as much of your data collection online in a structure (sorted) way. So that you can have access to all your files, from anywhere in the world. If the same files are stored in a local hard disk, only if that machine is available for access you will be able to access that file Making online purchase gives you extra freedom to look at the product , with you indirect pressure of sales executives . you will get chance to know the specification of the product you purchase in detail, to add the credit card statement is going to give your accounts statement every month Use emails effectively, reduce the opportunity is spam you , by not giving you email id in unnecessary places , so that you can have all your communications sorted , saved and retrievable . this is not possible in traditional mailing system , unless you collect and consolidate all letters and mails
